What is Speech Therapy:
Speech Therapy is a treatment service that aids and trains individuals (adults and children across the entire lifespan) who may experience developmental or acquired speech language disorders that inhibit one’s ability to communicate. QPVC primarily services children and the pediatric population ages 2 years old - 16 years old.
Types of Speech and Language Disorders:
Speech Sound Articulation:
Difficulty producing specific sounds of words and or sounds of the language.
Expressive/Receptive Language Disorder: Difficulty composing words into phrases or sentences / Difficulty comprehending spoken communication.
Voice Disorder:
Abnormal vocal pitch, volume, resonance, endurance or quality that impact communication.
Social Pragmatic Language Disorder:
Difficulty using spoken language in real-life interactions and social situations.
Disfluency:
Stuttering or frequent disruptions in the natural flow of speech.
*QPVC primarily provides services for social pragmatics, disfluency, expressive language, receptive language, phonological disorders, and speech-sound articulation disorders.
